Senior Parent / Student Meeting Summary

For those who were unable to attend the Senior Parent / Student Meeting, the following information was covered:

Graduation is May 19, 2022.  Please see pages 34 and 35 of the 2021 – 2022 Parent / Student Handbook.

Be sure you have chosen the correct diploma option.  See endorsements on pages 27 and 28 of the 2021 – 2022 Parent / Student Handbook.  Contact the counseling center (after the beginning of the school year) if you need to change.

Consider trying to qualify for Mississippi Scholars and Mississippi Scholars Tech Master.  See pages 43 and 44 of the 2021 – 2022 Parent / Student Handbook.

See information on pages 31 and 32 of the 2021 – 2022 Parent / Student Handbook for information on weighted and unweighted GPA.

Be aware that it isn’t too early to apply for financial aid and scholarships for college.  Scholarship information will be sent via MS Teams to students and will also be located on the bookcase outside the counselor’s office.  Also, make yourself aware of deadlines for specific grant opportunities and academic scholarships.  Some deadlines are as early as December and January.

Transcripts are sent by the counselor’s office after graduation.

If you are an athlete who hopes to play beyond the high school level, be certain you are aware of the NCAA Clearinghouse and their guidelines.

Senior parking spots are still on sale.  You must purchase by July 31.  We will make no exceptions for sales after July 31, for our current students.

Be aware that senior projects include 80 hours of required community service.

We reviewed the following rules and guidelines:

Check-outs – You must check out in the office.  Students will NOT be allowed to check out with a phone call from a parent.  There must be a parent note turned in during the first hour of the school day.  It should include a phone number where the parent can be reached.  We will call!

See the information for Senior Off Campus on page 34.

For those interested in in Dual Enrollment / Dual Credit, there have been some changes.  We will not be able to offer DC Biology.  DC English Composition will be done online with Co-Lin.  We will meet with the students who are in DC classes at the beginning of the fall semester.
